IEC Delegation contributes to OIE General Session

A top level IEC delegation took part in this week’s OIE 86th General Session of the World Assembly of National Delegates.

This is a key decision making event for the global egg industry, setting standards on everything from layer housing to responses to avian influenza outbreaks, the decisions being made by the 181 OIE Members country delegates.

The IEC was represented by Tim Lambert (Chairman), Suresh Chitturi (Vice Chairman), Andres Valencia (Executive Board Member), Julian Madeley (Director General) and Kevin Lovell (Scientific Advisor).

This meeting was a critical chance for IEC to meet with OIE decision makers ahead of the release of the updated draft standards for housing laying hens, which is due to be released in November of this year.

It is of the utmost importance that each national egg association reacts to the draft standards – submitting comments to their national government’s chief veterinary officer in November.
